Gail Friedberg Rottenstrich was elected Mayor on March 12, 2024. She was originally elected to the Fair Lawn Council in 2017 and has served as both Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Community Affairs. In addition to being a Councilmember, Gail is the CEO and co-owner of Zago Manufacturing Company, which manufactures sealing fasteners and components in Newark, New Jersey. Gail also serves as a member of the Boards of Trustees of the New Jersey Manufacturers Extension Program (NJMEP), Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey and Infinity Tomorrow, an organization devoted to providing aid to adults with developmental disabilities. Gail is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, and the George Washington University Law School.
Gail and her husband Zahavy have been residents of Fair Lawn for almost 30 years. Their three sons Asher, Nathan and Dan attended Fair Lawn public schools and graduated from Fair Lawn High School. Prior to joining the Council, Gail was an active volunteer serving as a Board member of FLASE, as class and grade parent, and as chair of the Milnes Elementary School and TJ Middle School PTA Book Fairs. She has also been an active member of her synagogue, the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation Bnai Israel and has served on its Executive Board and as the President of its Sisterhood. In her free time, Gail is an enthusiastic hiker and biker and enjoys traveling and exploring nature with her family.
Gail is committed to advancing the three pillars of sustainability in Fair Lawn (prosperity, planet, and people) through support of our local economy, the practice of responsible environmental management and conservation, and fostering a strong civil society that promotes opportunity for all.

Mayor's Meet and Greets 2024:
Mayor Gail Rottenstrich has set her 2024 “Meet and Greet” sessions with residents. Individual meetings will take place in the Mayor’s office, Room 206, located on the second floor of the Municipal Building at 8-01 Fair Lawn Avenue. Meeting times will be available by appointment only between 6:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on the following dates:
July 22th, August 19th, September 23rd, October 28th, November 25th and December 23rd
Residents should schedule appointments in advance by contacting the Mayor’s office at 201-794-5344 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or via email at Mayor@fairlawn.org. Residents can also schedule appointments at other times during the month on an “as needed” basis.
