Deputy Mayor of Community Affairs Josh Reinitz

Josh Reinitz was elected to the Fair Lawn Council and began serving as a Councilman in January of 2018, and re-elected to a second term beginning in January 2022. He was named Deputy Mayor in January of 2020, and served as the Deputy Mayor of Community Affairs in 2021. In addition to serving on the Council, Josh has been a practicing attorney in New Jersey for almost 20 years. Councilman Reinitz graduated from Rutgers College and Rutgers School of Law – Newark and served as a law clerk to Hon. Eugene H Austin, J.S.C. in Bergen County. He recently completed a two-year term as the Chair of the Municipal Court Practice Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and received the 2019 Municpal Court Practice Award voted on by his colleagues Josh was a 2016 recipient of the New Jersey Law Journal’s New Leader of the Bar Award recognizing the top attorneys in New Jersey under 40 years old. Reinitz has been chosen by Chief Justice Rabner to serve on the Supreme Court’s Municipal Court Practice Committee and the Supreme Court’s Working Group on Municipal Court Reform. He has been selected by each of the past seven State Bar Presidents to sit on the Association’s Standing Committee on Legislation. Josh was a Fellow in the inaugural New Jersey State Bar Association Leadership Academy and volunteered as a member of the Office of Attorney Ethics Fee Arbitration Committee for District V-C. 

Josh and his wife Jennifer live in Fair Lawn with their three daughters, Lola, Madison and Scarlett and their dog Bacon, cat Whisky, and guinea pigs Candy, Cookie, and Florence.  While living in Fair Lawn, Josh has volunteered as both a coach and sport coordinator for Fair Lawn All Sports and is a member of the Knights of Pythias. Prior to serving on the Borough Council Josh was a member of the Fair Lawn Zoning Board of Adjustment. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Kier’s Kidz, an organization dedicated to eradicating pediatric cancer and as the Director of Basketball Operations for Rutgers Women’s Basketball.
