Memorial Day 2020

Members of the Governing Body wanted to send a message to the Borough in regards to Memorial Day 2020 and how we must still remember the sacrifices made, even during these troubling times. Mayor Peluso will send a message during a private ceremony, which will be aired on Fair Lawn TV.

Monday, May 25, 2020 is Memorial Day. Though this year's parade was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the holiday itself is not.

Memorial Day, which was previously called Decoration Day, is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the military personnel who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Though often confused with Veterans Day and Armed Forces Day, the purpose of the holiday is to reflect upon the sacrifices made by these brave individuals to protect our Country, our Rights and our Freedom.

This weekend, as the beaches of New Jersey reopen and we spend time with our loved ones, please stop and think of the women and men that have given so much.

Instead of saying, "Happy Memorial Day" or "Thank you for your service", simply say, "We Remember“.
