The Fair Lawn Human Services Department assists borough residents who need help getting through hard times. Funded entirely by private donations, our food pantry and Human Services Trust Account are utilized on a regular basis by families who receive food, grocery store gift cards, and assistance paying for past due utilities when necessary.
Since 2009, we have handed out over 12,000 bags of food to Fair Lawn residents in need. Each summer, the residents of Fair Lawn outfit many students in need with school supplies through their generous donations. In the Fall and Winter, we look forward to our Holiday Food Drive and Holiday Gift Drive, providing Thanksgiving meals and holiday gifts to our families.
Our Human Services Clerk also assists many residents in locating state and county services that can be beneficial in difficult times and that the Borough of Fair Lawn cannot offer. These include such things as Mortgage Assistance, Discounted or free medical services and prescriptions, mental health services, job training, Senior services, and additional social services.
Fair Lawn residents, students, and businesses are truly the backbone of the Human Services Department. Donations of all kinds are immediately put to good use. The clients who receive these items are always grateful to their neighbors who take the time to lend a helping hand.
