FLAS Volunteer Coaches Information & Requirements

The success of all Fair Lawn All-Sports programs depends on the participation of our volunteer coaches. Our amazing coaches are a huge part of what makes our sports programs the best in New Jersey. For 2026, FLAS is rolling out a new, comprehensive coach registration process. This new process includes three essential elements for coaching in Fair Lawn:

• Coach information, waiver and head shot
• Background check
• Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Certification upload (please have a copy of your Rutgers Certification Card)

The new process is very simple. If you are NOT Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Certified, please STOP!!! Please visit Fair Lawn All-Sports Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. for guidance.

The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic (Sports Awareness for Educating Today's Youth ™) is a three-hour program that meets the "Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs" (N.J.A.C. 5:52) and provides partial civil immunity protection to volunteer coaches under the "Little League Law" (2A:62A-6 et. seq.).

In accordance with the stipulations in the Little League Law, the Rutgers SAFETY Clinic:

  • helps coaches minimize the risk of injury to young athletes
  • provides information about fundamental coaching concepts which enhances volunteer coaches' effectiveness
  • protects volunteer coaches from civil lawsuits

Returning and New Coaches with a Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Certification

Please follow the three (3) simple steps below to get cleared for the upcoming season.

  • Step 1: Complete the FLAS Master Coach Registration
    You will receive an automated email within minutes with links to the next two steps.
  • Step 2: Upload Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Certification Card
    Have a copy of your certification card ready. If you cannot find your card, please email maversa146@aol.com.
  • Step 3: Complete the Background Screening Registration

All steps must be completed in order to be fully cleared to coach. If you encounter any issues, please email FairLawnAllSports@gmail.com for assistance.
