1. Jacob Gulko , who needs to work on an environmental project to win an award
for the Boy Scouts, presented his idea of cleaning up Lyncrest Park – rebuilding
& remarking trails, stop erosion, clean out pond. Joe stated that the pond has a
lot of sediment that cannot be dredged due to their toxicity. Wendy suggested
including an education factor for the neighboring houses and to get the school
involved. Jacob will tour the area & write up a proposal to present to the
council.
2. Wendy reported no correspondence of note.
3. Health Dept update: only new item was a complaint of lead paint chipping on
the BOE property on Bergen Ave. BOE was notified that safe lead abatement
procedures would need to be employed when refinishing occurs.
4. Peter reported no new items from Planning Board.
5. Council update: Marty reported that the Council approved the Litter Marshall
Program, where any litter dumping would be reported to Ron Lottermann who would
report it to the police. A warning letter would be sent to the perpetrator, a
fine would be issued in any additional occurrences. Naugel House update: the
buyer of the property wants to build townhouses. He won’t give the house to
anyone but the town & will rebuild it. Peter stated that the site was not zoned
for townhouses.
6. Adopt-a-Park update by Todd: Spoke to George Frye & Ron Lotterman about
recycling receptacles in parks. They are concerned that people wouldn’t use them
properly. Ron can use money from Clean Communities grant to purchase cans to see
how it works. Todd got information on receptacles to purchase.
7. Wendy stated that the EC has a budget of $1000.
Bring ideas for Earth Day/ Arbor Day to next meeting.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 in the Municipal
Building.
