Taxes:
Taxes are due
February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1 with a 10 day grace period for
each quarter. Late payments will accrue interest at the rate of 8% on the
first $1500.00 and 18% thereafter on the total delinquency. If you are
using a computer or electronic payment method, please include the tax stub
with payment or at least the block and lot number for the property.
Credit Card Payment for Tax and Water Bills:
The Borough has made arrangements for residents and businesses to pay
their tax and water bills using a credit cards through Official Payments
Corporation. Residents will be charged a 3% convenience fee for using this
service. This fee will be added to your payment.
Residents can contact Official Payments
Corporation at 1-800-2PAY-TAX (800-272-9829) or through their web site at
http://www.officialpayments.com/index.jsp for instructions on paying
by credit card. Use the direct link to the
Fair Lawn Payment Page. The jurisdiction code for payments being made to
Fair Lawn is: 4051
Property
Tax Reimbursement:
The Property
Tax Reimbursement (Freeze Act) applications must be forwarded to the State
by March 15, 2005. The verification of "taxes paid" form (PTR-1)
can be verified at the Tax Collector's Office between 9 AM and 4 PM
weekdays. For more information, call the hotline at 1-800-882-6597 between
8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
Water
Billing:
Water bills
are sent out quarterly. Please include the bill stub when tendering
payment. Please make every effort to pay water bills in a timely
manner. Failure to keep your account current could result in your water
supply being shut off at the curb.
Drop Box
for Payment:
For your
convenience, a lock box has been installed in the parking lot of the
Municipal Building for easy drop off of CURRENT tax and water payments. NO
CASH PLEASE.
