Dog and Cat Licenses:
All cats and dogs over the age of 6 months must be licensed. Dog license renewals must be obtained by January 31 to avoid a $5 late fee. Cat license renewals must be obtained by June 30 to avoid a $5 late fee. Owner must show proof of rabies vaccination good for 10 month of the licensing year for a 1-year license. This means that rabies vaccination for dogs must expire after November 1, 2008 to get a 1-year license. Rabies vaccination for cats must expire after April 1, 2009 to get a 1-year license. In order to be eligible to purchase a 3-year dog license, rabies vaccination must expire after November 1, 2010 and after April 1, 2011 for cats. The fee is $8.20 for neutered/spayed cats & dogs and $11.20 for unneutered/unspayed dogs & cats for a 1-year license. A new 3-year license may also be purchased for a cost of $18.60 for neutered/spayed cats & dogs and $27.60 for unneutered/unspayed dogs & cats. A late fee of $5.00 will be charged after the deadlines, please include this fee with any late payment checks.
Pet licenses can be obtained through the mail by returning the proper form and proof of rabies shot and making a check payable to the Borough of Fair Lawn. Separate checks are needed for 1 and 3 year licenses if you obtain a 1 year license for one pet and a 3-year license for another pet.

Free Rabies Clinic: November and May at the Parks Department Garage at Memorial Pool. It is advisable for pet owners to bring dogs to the November clinic and cats to the May clinic to align with the licensing period. Please call 201-794-5327 for exact date and time.
Note: Free Rabies shots are available at the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro, NJ. For further information, call the B.C. Animal Shelter at 201-229-4600 for scheduled dates when inoculations are offered.
Pet owners are urged to curb their pet. Pet feces should not be discarded in storm drains! Borough ordinance 5-10.4, requires that any person in charge of an animal immediately and properly dispose of all animal feces.
Animal Control Services: Wildlife traps can be rented for $1 per day, with a $50 deposit. Animal removal is available for the fee of $5.
