The objective of the committee is to assist borough residents with disabilities overcome obstacles within Fair Lawn that prevent them from conducting everyday life activities.

The committee will:

• Provide a forum for residents to report and discuss disability access issues in Fair Lawn.
• Suggest improvements of borough facilities that currently provide obstacles for persons with disabilities.
• Engage in projects that improve overall handicapped accessibility within the borough.
• Disseminate information that can be of assistance to people with disabilities.

Residential Special Needs Registry:
Fair Lawn Emergency Management has established a Residential Special Need Registry for citizens who may require special attention during times of emergency. If you or someone you know is a Fair Lawn resident an is using oxygen in their home, requires a walker to get around or has any other form of special need, fill out an application. All information is confidential and is distributed to the police, fire, rescue, ambulance, health and public works departments for use during an emergency. To sign up for the registry or if you have any other questions about the program, please contact the Fair Lawn Office of Emergency Management at 201-794 5390 or email oem@fairlawn.org.

File of Life:
Fair Lawn Emergency Management is proud to sponsor the FILE OF LIFE Program. The FILE OF LIFE is a place to store your vital medical information, so in the event of an emergency, the first responders have instant access to your medical history. The card, which is kept in a red plastic pocket labeled FILE OF LIFE, lists all important medical information and is held with a magnet to the ouside of the refrigerator. When every second counts in an emergency, it is important to have vital information about a person. To receive a FILE OF LIFE packet or or if you have any other questions about the program, please contact the Fair Lawn Office of Emergency Management at 201-794 5390 or email oem@fairlawn.org.
